privacy policy

I am a sole trader operating as Audrey Anderson Proofreading and as such I offer proofreading and proof-editing services to clients.

This policy describes how I protect and make use of your information.

Information that I collect from clients:

  • Name
  • Contact postal address
  • Email address
  • Phone number (only if necessary)
  • Project-related documents and files
  • Any necessary bank information

How I use your personal data:

  • To keep in touch with you while I am working on your documents
  • For my accounting processes
  • For compliance with the UK tax authority (HMRC)

Where do I store this information?

I will store your personal data and project files on my password-protected computer. I regularly back-up the files to an external password-protected hard-drive.

Email addresses are kept on my password-protected business email account.

How long do I keep the data for?

I will keep your personal data for 7 years, as required by HMRC.

As a client, I will keep your project files so that I can be consistent with style if I work with you again. I will, however, be happy to delete your files if you ask me to.

If I had recorded your details in order to provide you with a quote but then you ultimately did not become a client, I would delete your details and any associated project files.

Sharing your data

I will not share your data with any third parties. The only exceptions to this would be if you had agreed for me to do so in writing or if I were required to share information under my legal obligations to HMRC.

I do not subcontract work. However, if I am unable to accept your manuscript due to my workload I may be able to recommend a CIEP registered colleague who might be able to help. In this case I would, with your permission, pass your details to them so that they could contact you to discuss your work.

Website

This website (and third-party services utilised by this website e.g. Google Analytics) may place anonymous cookies on your computer for purposes of gathering aggregate data about website behaviour. This information is used to improve the quality of the website and the service provided through it. You may remove the cookies at any time by clearing your browser.

If you have been kind enough to provide me with positive feedback or a testimonial I may seek your permission to include it on my website or social-media account. As a part of this process I would confirm the details you would be happy to have included in this posting.
